A little color… goes a long way

As Betsy Johnson says “Always have fun with fashion, dress to entertain yourself”. This is a fave quote of mine because I definitely believe in dressing for me first and 2nd enjoying what I’m wearing. Color is fun, expressive and uplifting, its actually quite important, maybe even call it- therapeutic. Noooooo I’m not a therapist, but I do believe in Fashion Therapy! LOL…

I love wearing COLOR... either adding a touch of it or making a bold statement, especially when I’m not feeling my best or it’s a gloomy day out. It’s kind of a mind game but it works for me 🙂 for instance, when its rainy out I like to wear a bright color like orange, yellow or green. I’d receive comments on my color choice and notice it would make people smile, which releases those endorphins and create a reaction that can indirectly affect hence why I call it the fashion therapy.

Did you know different colors can affect ones mood? Here are just a few…

Green symbolizes harmony, balance and freshness. It also has great healing power. Nature, energy and renewal are also connected to my favorite color.

Yellow is one that is the most energetic colors, its associated with laughter hope and sunshine, a definite mood lifter…

Pink is a sign of hope, it’s positive, inspiring and warm. Provides a sense of calm and reassures our emotional vibes.

I truly believe how we dress is an extension of our mood, mindset and how we want the world to respond to us. There is so much truth in the saying “what you put out is what you get back”. You can change the energy of your space…believe me you can! We all have a choice, we can control what surrounds us all by the actions we choose. So let’s make it intentional ya’ll!!! It starts before we even leave the house. What you wear plays a HUGE part… #1 rule- and I know I always say there are no rules when it comes to your style-Your Style Your Rules right?! Yassss of course! However there is only one small rule that should always apply. Wear what makes YOU feel good!

Not having a great morning?! We all have them… and you know this could be happening for a variety of reasons( insert eye roll) LOL… it’s just that life thing happening as expected… and even when we don’t expect it…expect it. With that being said, we still have to head out into the world and possibly be the face of positivity for someone, a source of encouragement, inspiration and at times looked to for leadership. So what do we do?? We pause and redirect… reach into your closet for that jacket or that dress! Maybe it’s that mood lifting color like I previously mentioned, could even be a lipstick. Whatever IT is that makes YOU feel FABULOUS!… because your mindset is everything and what you put out there once you walk out that door is what you will get back.

Only you can set the tone for your day… whatever color you choose be the change you want to see.

Monday Mix Mashup

I know to some it could look like a mistake, LOL and others think “only you could wear that” but honestly its all about finding the right prints for you. It can be as subtle of a mix or as bold as you want it to be… Its all about your comfort level and then making it your own.

The simplest way to do this ( I know simple doesn’t seem like a word we would use here as we are talking about clashing prints) lol- but here we go! … Right to your closet because I’m sure we can find something in there. 🙂

Look for a printed skirt, blouse, pant or jacket it doesn’t really matter whatever you decide to wear and feel comfortable in. Once you have chosen your item , look for another print that is complimentary and has a common color base. As you look through your closet, believe me something will stop and resonate with you. When that happens… GO WITH IT!!. Tryyyy it on! Then look for the “anchor”( the color that exists in both patterns) it will bring them together and hold the look down. If you do not have something that works- go with black or neutral/nude.

Check it- once, twice maybe a third time just to re-confirm the selections. If you go back a fourth time then something is not working… time to re-adjust and trust your gut. Your gut is everything! and so is your comfort!! So it may need tweaking or it just may not be the day, you know how that goes!? :-)… when it is you’ll know it. I promise!

Mixing prints is truly one of my faaaaaaaaaavorites. I get so excited about it because it’s truly a one of a kind look each time you wear an outfit. There are so many fun variations and combinations you could come up with to make it your own… It’s like art and you are the painter and the canvas.

Creativity is experimenting, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and of course having fun!

L Style…

L Style is what I think of as “my style my way”. There are many words that come to mind when it describing what is my look. There is no one word that sums it up for me. If I had to choose one I guess I would say eclectic. I think that’s just how my mind works, because It’s very rare that I plan my outfits in advance. I typically wake up with a specific item ( jewelry, shoe, clothing ) color, or feeling for the look of the day. By the time I’m in the closet, I’ve mentally concocted an outfit that I’m hoping is as FAB as I envisioned. The whole process can take 5 mins if everything just works and there are no HOT flashes- phew! Speaking of HOT flashes!!! Can we talk a sec?! At this point in my life ( I’m sure some of you can relate) hot flashes can quickly change any wardrobe plans from EXTRA FAB to Minimalist Chic all in a flash.-Ha! lol! So corny I know, sometimes I really can be… but you’ve been warned :-). Soooo after cooling off and the creative juices are flowing once again, I pulled some random pieces added some accessories to taste (of course) and by Gods graces it has owned the title of OOTD.

Preplanning your look is a great start, however flexibility is necessary, as well as having some “go to” pieces that always come thru. We all have them in our closet…

So tell me… what are your “go to” pieces?

You should always go with what feels right to you, whenever in doubt either take one thing away

or add one.

Style is about individuality, style is expression, style is being creative

Creativity never goes out of style~
With good basics you’re never out of options…
Thinking about taking over the world with 2 or more prints at a time.
A little color does a body good!
A smile is ALWAYS in style!
