What kind of follower are you?

Is it the trend or the style for you?

I used to think that if you followed trends it meant you had a lot of money- which meant you have style. in my mind Style=Money. I don’t think the same anymore… don’t get me wrong you can have both $ and style however style is not something you can buy. Style is innate and stems from creativity and sometimes a wild imagination which neither can be studied or copied or purchased.

Growing up seeing people in magazines and TV dressed nicely and in the latest looks you immediately thought they had $ so of course they could buy whatever they wanted. As my inner style child matured- I realized that it was more interesting to me to not look like everyone else. So I always approached my style with a different eye. I delved more into curating what my personal style would look like.

There will always be trends after trends out there to encourage us to maybe try something new or reinvent a trend of the past to make it new again. How we interpret and make it your own showcases your personality and you at your best. I personally consider myself a Style follower, I look at everyday as an exciting blank canvas where the styling options are endless and come right out of my closet :-)… however once in a while there are some definite trends that catch my eye- I mean how could they not??. LOL

You have to take risks to be stylish… Creative minds inspire others.

hmmmm??

So tell me… are you a trend or style follower?

always thankful…

Thank you! Merci! Grazi! Arigato! Danke! Xie Xie! No matter how you say it giving THANKS means everything!

Stay grateful…. you will never lack for anything.

Let go of who you think you need to be and just be who you actually are…oh yeah, its possible. We don’t have to figure it all out at once, but stay thankful and growing through your journey… whatever that is for you because everyone has their own. At the end of the day…keep going to just see what happens.

Thanks my lovelies until next time.

XO!~

Minimal intent…

Minimalism in life is a balance of letting things go… The styling idea for my amazing $20 Zara find…WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!! Sorry I digress!! LOL -I just love this little #!!…. so anyway the styling stemmed from the simplicity of it all. It became the catalyst for the overall minimalistic vibe. But not at right at first…I started to add more accessories to my taste and liking as I do, but somehow the little love affair was diminishing. So instead I decided to style less out of habit and more out of intent. Hmmmm…. say that with me- LESS from Habit- MORE out of INTENT! ( note to self-possible blog post topic ) Ok I’m back… my mind drifts at times- LOL but I always bring it back. 🙂 Please stay with me ya’ll.

So as I was saying… The quote “less is more” can actually mean more than less when you think about it. It can be applied to many aspects in our daily get up and go. I’ve learned to say a lot less as I’ve gotten more mature, realizing not everything needs a comment. You actually say more when you say less. In the world of styling we apply the ” less is more” mindset when getting ourselves or a client dressed… after you have completed the look and something just doesn’t look/feel right to you… we all have those moments-right?!… the “go to” thought is to remove something. It may be the last piece you added or the first and usually it miraculously solves the problem. Unless you are my dear dear friend Iris Apfel- who believes and lives by her infamous quote “more is more and less is a bore” which isn’t for everybody- but if you can pull if off by all means do so and DO YOU 🙂

So in conclusion my stylish sisters…Minimalism as a lifestyle is the art of letting go. Whatever that means to you and however you decide to apply it…. Remember DO what you LOVE…..

Until next time lovelies.. DO YOU

More than 95% of style is your creativity and how you OWN your look…

How you living?

Do your clothes tell the story of how live?….

Clothing means noting until someone breathes life into it, Marc Jacobs~

Everyone breathes life into what they wear in their own style and fashion… no two lives are the same even if wearing the exact same pieces. Creativity never goes out of style… clothing can be transformational. I love how each look evokes a different feeling time place and vibe for me.

Every day is a different style, adventure and destination, even when the destination is JUST work for the day ( which I’m happy and blessed to go to daily). I always get dressed for me first then I live my day. Clothes shouldn’t make the person, but they should be enjoyed everyday, its one thing that’s a constant – after all we spend a lot of time IN them and spend our $ ON them right ya’ll?!… Don’t you think they all deserve their own life story?

This LBD by Trinidadian fashion designer Meiling from Meilinginc is giving me LIFE!!!!

My tip to be fashionably happy-

Wear how you live!

So let me ask you this … How you living?

Lets play DRESS up…

Remembering when I was a little girl playing dress up was SO FUN! Got me wondering if that feeling ever leaves us. Something still happens when I put on a dress its a feeling that makes you want to twirl and twirl. No matter what the season a dress almost always works. Easy breezy, belted or booted, add a blazer to take it thru the transition period into Fall. Even though the weather is still warm in some places we ARE officially now in Fall. With that being said we can just rock our dresses on it’s own… Just add some favorite accessories to complete the look, as we wait for the temps to catch up to the current season. Winter florals like this dress from @Canvasfashiongallery dress are the perfect in the mean time in between time piece to have in your wardrobe.

For now I’m slowly adding pieces that give the look of Fall without actually needing the warmth from the layers. This is what I call my Fall Florida Style..

If you change the way you look at things the things you look at change.

Jewelry is a personal thing…

“Jewelry is the most transformative thing you can wear”…

Iris Apfel

Hmmm is this ring big enough?? 🙂

What do you want to say?…

How you dressing? lol

You’ve probably heard that saying –Dress the way you want to be addressed... well “how you dressing?” in my Wendy Williams voice. Lol… what you wear and your style speaks for you before you open your mouth to form a word, or your brain has even created that thought. I’ve always thought to myself.. “We are our own business cards” and daily we are visually handing them out and showing the world who we are. So what does your card say about you? Does it represent the person you are today? Does it say where you are going or have you already arrived? Call it dressing like you already have the job you want. Make every opportunity a moment, I know you are probably thinking that sounds too much… like my kids would say “You doin the most Mom” 🙂 and I hear you, especially during these times of a pandemic. BUT more so now than ever, no matter the occasion always show up!!!! Looking your best leads to feeling your best which leads to putting that best foot forward every time you step out.

Be your BEST representative

How you want to be addressed is determined by your dress…dress the way you want to be addressed.

A little color… goes a long way

As Betsy Johnson says “Always have fun with fashion, dress to entertain yourself”. This is a fave quote of mine because I definitely believe in dressing for me first and 2nd enjoying what I’m wearing. Color is fun, expressive and uplifting, its actually quite important, maybe even call it- therapeutic. Noooooo I’m not a therapist, but I do believe in Fashion Therapy! LOL…

I love wearing COLOR... either adding a touch of it or making a bold statement, especially when I’m not feeling my best or it’s a gloomy day out. It’s kind of a mind game but it works for me 🙂 for instance, when its rainy out I like to wear a bright color like orange, yellow or green. I’d receive comments on my color choice and notice it would make people smile, which releases those endorphins and create a reaction that can indirectly affect hence why I call it the fashion therapy.

Did you know different colors can affect ones mood? Here are just a few…

Green symbolizes harmony, balance and freshness. It also has great healing power. Nature, energy and renewal are also connected to my favorite color.

Yellow is one that is the most energetic colors, its associated with laughter hope and sunshine, a definite mood lifter…

Pink is a sign of hope, it’s positive, inspiring and warm. Provides a sense of calm and reassures our emotional vibes.

I truly believe how we dress is an extension of our mood, mindset and how we want the world to respond to us. There is so much truth in the saying “what you put out is what you get back”. You can change the energy of your space…believe me you can! We all have a choice, we can control what surrounds us all by the actions we choose. So let’s make it intentional ya’ll!!! It starts before we even leave the house. What you wear plays a HUGE part… #1 rule- and I know I always say there are no rules when it comes to your style-Your Style Your Rules right?! Yassss of course! However there is only one small rule that should always apply. Wear what makes YOU feel good!

Not having a great morning?! We all have them… and you know this could be happening for a variety of reasons( insert eye roll) LOL… it’s just that life thing happening as expected… and even when we don’t expect it…expect it. With that being said, we still have to head out into the world and possibly be the face of positivity for someone, a source of encouragement, inspiration and at times looked to for leadership. So what do we do?? We pause and redirect… reach into your closet for that jacket or that dress! Maybe it’s that mood lifting color like I previously mentioned, could even be a lipstick. Whatever IT is that makes YOU feel FABULOUS!… because your mindset is everything and what you put out there once you walk out that door is what you will get back.

Only you can set the tone for your day… whatever color you choose be the change you want to see.
